A quick getaway at Puerto Galera

Wednesday, September 16, 2015
For this year’s team outing, we had a consensus to visit Puerto Galera. We wanted a place which is affordable & accessible since it would just be an overnight jaunt. We’re fed up with Batangas and Laguna, too. ;)

Jam, Danie, and I were in charge of the logistics. I booked us an overnight stay at The Manor which proved to be a great choice. If you’re a big group and you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of White Beach, this is the place to be. :)

We traveled to Batangas port and rode a ferry to reach Muelle port. Two-way ferry fare  and terminal fee costs approx. Php 500.00 each.

Ready for Galera :)

If there’s one thing I enjoyed the least from this trip, it has got to be the ferry ride. It’s too crowded and broiling inside. We could open the window covers but water kept coming inside. So it’s either you swelter in heat or drench in salt water. Go figure.

Still smiling despite the heat

After an hour of wobbly ride, we’ve finally reached Muelle port. After we registered and paid the environmental fee, we ate at Robby's Cafeteria Wine Center which is just a couple of walks from the port.

We're really satisfied with the food.

I loved Robby's Seafood Pasta! :)

If it wasn't midday, our bosses would surely guzzle some wine.

We were fetched by The Manor’s service from Robby's. As soon as we saw The Manor, our hearts jumped. It’s really perfect for a getaway. Right then and there we almost decided to extend the vacation but we already have return tickets. Sigh.
Hotel grounds

We had 2 villas which could accommodate a maximum of 10 persons per villa. 1 villa (for 6 pax) costs Php 9,000.00, extra person charge is Php 1, 000.00/night. The villas are so big we could all fit in just 1 villa. There’s also TV in the living room aside from the TVs in each room. You can also cook in here. ;)

The common area is soooo inviting.

Here are more photos of us enjoying our stay at The Manor.

In the afternoon, we visited White Beach which is dubbed as the “poor man’s Boracay.” We rode a tricycle from the Manor to the beach. Keen disappointment showed in our faces. It’s jam-packed with people and the beach is murky. We just ate and drank our dissatisfaction away. There are fire shows and performances at night time, though.

They say the fun in White Beach starts at night time.

Fire dancers lit up the beach.

When night time came, our group split into two. The youngsters wanted to stay and party at White Beach and the oldies wanted to go home and rest. Being one of the young ones but a self-confessed Tita of Manila, I was really in a quandary. The magic words, though, were “We’ll party ‘til 12.” My verve can only last ‘til 10. Haha. Off I went with the oldies, ;)

We checked if the pool was still open as soon as we arrived at The Manor. The lights were turned off since the guests near the pool were sleeping already.  But as the "pabebe girls” say, “Walang makakapigil samin,” we still swam. In hushed tones, btw. Haha.  We ate ice cream and chips by the pool and had a night swim under the stars. This is my idea of bliss. :) I knew I made the right choice. Haha.

We had a good night's sleep as the rain fell in crazy chaotic drops.

We started our 2nd and last day with a complimentary breakfast the Manor’s dining area then visited Sandbar Boquete Beach which is near the Manor. It took us 20 minutes to walk our way to the beach and it was worth it.

We wouldn't mind walking if this sight will greet us.

Unlike White Beach which is teeming with tourists, the Sandbar is peaceful. The sand is not fine, though, and broken corals abound the waters too. It’s best to wear proper shoes.

If it's not quite evident yet, we love taking selfies. Haha.

So serene and beautiful

After we freshened up, we prepared our stuff since our boat is leaving at 2 PM.

We rode the resort's jeepney to Muelle port.
We were all talking how our overnight stay was so bitin. Nevertheless, it was filled with so much fun and laughter. I’m looking forward to more out-of-town trips with this bunch.
