If there's one thing I love about my job, it has got to be the free travels. I went to Baguio last year (I know. I know. This post is long overdue.) for a research. I finished the legwork earlier so I decided to visit two art centers on my bucketlist: BenCab Museum and Tam-awan Village.
BenCab Museum
I took a cab from Baguio City to BenCab Museum but the locals said there are jeepneys from Baguio City Center which are bound for Asin Road where the museum is located. It took me 20 minutes to reach the art haven.
BenCab Museum, located at Km. 6, Asin Road in Tuba, Bengue, houses the artworks and collection of National Artist Benedicto "BenCab" Carera, among other artworks of local artists. It's a four-storey building composed of nine galleries, a cafe, and a function room. There is also a man-made duck pond connected by a wooden bridge to a gazebo where you can relish the crisp cool air of Baguio.
Bululs (Rice god sculpture), Hagabi (long-wooden bench of the Ifugao) and other interesting bits of Ifugao heritage abound the museum. I'll let the photos do the talking.
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Friday (except Christmas and New Year) from 9AM to 6PM
General admission fee: P120.00
Admission fee for students: P100.00
Admission fee for senior citizens/PWD: P80.00

Before I headed to Tam-Awan Village, I had lunch at Cafe by the Ruins and ordered Baguio Bagnet with Sinigang Soup. I don't understand what the rave is about since the food was just average. |
Tam-Awan Village
Tam-Awan which means "Vantage Point" showcases the culture, art, and heritage of the Cordillera people. It is located at Pinsao Proper and is managed by Chanum Foundation, Inc. - a non-profit organization that aims to develop appreciaton for the culture of the Cordillera region.
For a measley fee of P50.00, I got to see cultural books, artifacts, souvenirs, and paintings in different medium. There is a café shop-cum-tourist information office. You can also stay in one of the village's huts.

Opening Hours: Daily from 8AM to 6PM
Admission fee (Adult): P50.00
Admission fee(Kids): P20.00
